A new-generation electric car battery that charges quickly
Making the charging process of electric cars can make them more appealing for the average consumer. If it takes less time to charge for the same or greater amount of travel associated with that charge, consumers may see the electric cars as more cost and time efficient, heightening their appeal.
The time it takes to charge an electric car can be as little as 30 minutes or more than 12 hours. This depends on the size of the battery and the speed of the charging point.
The StoreDot EV FlashBattery™ is a type of electric car battery that consists of specially synthesized organic compounds. The charging experience is similar to fueling a car, but its cost of ownership is half per mile in comparison to existing electric vehicle batteries. When fully charged, the battery stores enough energy for a 300 mile (480 km) range on a 5-minute charge. This translates to 60 miles of travel on a 1-minute charge, significantly cutting the overall cost of owning an electric car. The StoreDot EV FlashBattery™ is expected to curb the increase in vehicle-generated carbon emissions by making electric cars more attractive for consumers
