Air pollution is proven to cause chronic lung diseases
According to the American Lung Association, more than 6.2 million people with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, 2.5 million children with asthma and 75,200 people with lung cancer lived in counties that received a failing grade for at least one pollutant.
Nature and Context
The health of close to half of all Americans who live in areas that fail to meet these clean air standards is at increased risk due to the causal link between air pollution and diseases such as asthma and COPD.
