Creating solar energy through alternative methods
Solar power is a cheaper and cleaner process than other forms of energy generation. Turning water into fuel, using nothing but solar energy, could generate enough energy to run cars, houses and even whole communities. Technology that focuses on this process should be given special attention to see how scalable a solution could be.
The 'artificial leaf' is a solar-powered device that is able to produce hydrogen with a record-breaking degree of efficiency. The 'leaf' splits up the water by passing an electric current through it, which separates out hydrogen particles to be used for fuel.
