Sulfur Oxide Pollution
Sulfur oxide deposits contribute to the acidification of soils and surface waters as well as mercury methylation in wetland areas. Sulfur oxides cause injury to vegetation and species lass in aquatic and terrestrial systems, contributing to particle formation with dangerous environmental impacts. Sulfate particles contribute to the cooling of the atmosphere.
