3D printers for US schools

Nature and Context
help
3D printing stimulates an interest in and develops children’s maths, literacy and problem solving skills: areas in which US education lags behind most OECD countries. 3D printing is already being utilized to address major social and health problems our world faces, so putting that technology in the hands of our youth could help society address issues that face us now and down the road.

MakerBot is a new initiative to put 3D printers into every American school. As well as the technology, the campaign has set up a suite of 3D printing resources on Thingiverse.com that teachers can use immediately in the classroom, such as a free model of the Great Pyramid of Giza.
