As well as suggesting tech approaches to ensure maximal interoperability between sub-communities of devices, we should also consider social and political requirements. An internet of things ‘Bill of Rights’ is proposed, including the right of an individual to access data created about them by others, in full resolution and in a standard format. The fostering of widespread technological literacy should also be considered crucial
