Increasing Access to First Language Reading Materials for Students
According to Census Bureau data for 2018, 67.3 million U.S. residents spoke a language other than English at home. A lack of reading materials in native languages is linked to a child's inability to read at grade level. Access to appropriate reading materials for literacy development is critical for improving educational attainment, opportunity, and achieving poverty reduction.
