Improving the Cost of Community Composting
The total cost of adding 140 community composting programs is over $60 million, or around $380 per ton of food composted (ReFED). The difference in cost between community programs and large-scale facilities threatens the benefit of composting due to financial viability. Reducing costs and generating funding will result in environmental and community benefits.
