Preferred Communities (PC) Program





The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces funding for the Preferred Communities (PC) Program to support the resettlement of especially vulnerable populations of newly arrived refugees in preferred locations to facilitate their achievement of self-sufficiency. Services under the PC Program include, but are not limited to, intensive case management, culturally and linguistically appropriate linkages, and coordination with other service providers to improve these refugees' access to services. The goal of the PC Program is the successful resettlement and integration of especially vulnerable groups of newly and longer-term refugee arrivals (and other ORR client populations). The PC Program encompasses a comprehensive approach for refugee self-sufficiency and integration with the following four objectives: 1.   • Independent school districts
  • Public and State controlled institutions of higher education
  • Native American tribal governments (Federally recognized)
  • Public housing authorities/Indian housing authorities
  • Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments)
  • Nonprofits having a 501 (c) (3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • Nonprofits that do not have a 501 (c) (3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education
  • Private institutions of higher education
