Differences in societal norms concerning the gender gap and gender roles can determine how successful aid or access to financial services will be within a community. These differences include perceptions and self-efficacies about women’s capabilities to use technology and their financial decision making skills. Addressing the gender gap while implementing tools meant to lessen the gap is important in the success rate for tools like mobile money and banking.
