Protecting honeybees and inspiring and educating new beekeepers
Mankind needs to protect honeybees and to inspire and educate new urban beekeepers. There are nearly 20,000 known bee species in the world, and 4,000 of them are native to the United States (an estimated 400 additional native bee species remain to be identified in the U.S.) Ensuring new beekeepers know how to properly care for their bee populations is crucial to the survival of bees and mankind itself.
Husband and wife team Rob and Chelsea McFarland started HoneyLove as a nonprofit conservation organization. They provide an online forum, information and products to help urban beekeepers begin their journey. The HoneyLove volunteers and interns help out with raising awareness on social media, assisting at the bee yard and teaching the public about the importance of bees.
