Tech Solutions Related To UN SDG 2: Zero Hunger

We are connecting the affected hospitality workforce with local non-profits to serve and provide hunger relief to communities. We are using the Shiftsmart platform to connect the volunteers, supporters and non-profits to deliver these essential functions all while providing basic incomes and food security for affected children and families.

Bites | Eat With Your Tribe is a social impact mobile app that helps students get affordable homemade meals prepared for them by other students in college/university settings. This same app also helps K-12 teachers bring food literacy through interactive lunch experiences into classrooms to benefit students. We also fund edible food gardens on college/university campuses and K-12 school grounds.

Access to enough food should be a basic right. Unfortunately, this is not the reality for millions of people in Los Angeles County. Before the Covid-19 pandemic, up to 1.4 million people in Los Angeles County faced food insecurity. Food insecurity is inconsistent with access to cheap and nutritious food. Los Angeles has the highest percentage of food insecurity in the nation.

Rescuing Leftover Cuisine aims to become the world’s most widely used solution for companies and individuals to eliminate food waste in their communities, making food rescue sustainable and universal, and food hunger a thing of the past. Working together, we can ensure that only hunger is left behind.

Feeding America is a non-profit nationwide network of hunger-relief food banks. It provides food to more than 37 million people through 61,000 food pantries, soup kitchens, and shelters in communities across America. Feeding America also supports programs that improve food security among people; educates the public about the problem of hunger; and advocates for legislation that protects people.
